East St. Paul Target
Project Goals:
- Reduce the amount of impermeable surface in the parking lot
- Add features to help treat stormwater runoff and improve water quality
- Add native plants to increase pollinator habitat
In 2020, we removed 36 parking spaces to accommodate seven rain gardens and a tree trench at this retail location. These stormwater best management practices (BMP) improve drainage and remove 5 lbs of phosphorus and 890 lbs of total suspended solids from stormwater before it reaches Suburban Pond and Battle Creek. The gardens and tree trench treat 3.6 acres of impermeable surface, or 54% of the site.
