Management Plan

The RWMWD Watershed Management Plan establishes the guidelines for managing the water resources (such as lakes, rivers, and stormwater systems) within our boundaries to achieve the District’s mission. This plan provides the strategic direction for RWMWD over a ten-year span. This plan serves three primary functions:

  1. Assess watershed-wide and resource-specific issues
  2. Outlines goals and action items to address issues as well as preserve and maintain areas that are performing well
  3. Summarize a ten-year implementation plan for District projects and programs that will fulfill the goals and action items outlined earlier in the Management Plan

Executive Summary

Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District has had five management plans since 1975, when the organization was established. Our current Management Plan was created with input from local citizens and staff representing city, county, and state agencies. The plan was formally approved by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources in April 2017. For a look into our work on a year-by-year basis, check out our annual reports.
