Project Details

City Little Canada
Subwatershed Gervais Creek
Completed 2002
Cost $22,000
Funding source District funds

Overview

The purpose of this project was to construct an outlet structure for Black Tern Pond, which was a landlocked basin with historically fluctuating water levels. Prior to this project, water levels were high and flooding of adjacent roads was a problem. The new outlet structure manages water levels and eliminates flooding/freezing damage to nearby roads and utilities owned by the City of Little Canada.

Construction included the pond outlet structure and approximately seventy feet of storm sewer. Outflows from Black Tern Pond were routed to a local ditch system leading to Owasso Basin. Owasso Basin discharges into Gervais Creek, which flows into Gervais Lake.
