Ponds at Battle Creek Golf Course

This executive course showcases prairie, savanna and scenic water features

This Ramsey County golf course is touted as one of the most beautiful and challenging 9-hole executive courses in the Twin Cities metro area. Its fairways and greens wrap around 16 ponds and wetlands, presenting dramatic hillside vistas. Maintenance is supported by a partnership between Ramsey County Parks and the Ramsey County Correctional facility.

In 2011, the District entered into a partnership with the course to improve ecological diversity of the no-play and buffer areas. Three wetlands on course property are ecologically diverse and rank very high compared to others in the watershed. The management plan focuses on these wetland buffers and has included gully repair, invasive species management, and introduction of native wetland and upland plant species.

This management will help preserve the high quality wetlands while improving the golf experience through breathtaking views of native prairie, and the possibility of some spectacular wildlife sightings (birdies included, of course).
